Sustainable Tools for Environmental Performance Strategy

Introducing BESS - a new generation sustainability assessment tool

The Built Environment Sustainability Scorecard (BESS) is a new generation tool that can assess a residential, non-residential or mixed use building. BESS has been developed especially to support the Sustainable Design Assessment in the Planning Process (SDAPP) framework.

BESS will replace STEPS and SDS, with a transition period before STEPS and SDS are phased out - August 2016. For new projects, you are encouraged to use BESS.

Industry training is available. Visit the Moreland Energy Foundation website for more information.
