STEPS - for residential sustainability assessments
What is a 'more sustainable home'? It's cheaper to run, cool in summer, warm in winter, healthier, more valuable, friendly to the environment now and contributes to preserving our environment for the enjoyment of future generations.
The Council Alliance for a Sustainable Built Environment (CASBE) is leading the way in promoting sustainable residential development by adopting the use of the STEPS as the preferred method of environmental sustainability assessment. The tool is used to assess residential planning applications, with a view to incorporating the tool into the Planning Scheme, setting clear environmental performance targets for residential development.
Rate your home's environmental performance now and see where you can improve or assess plans for your new home and ensure that you take your STEPS towards a more sustainable home.
Sustainable Design Scorecard (SDS) - for non-residential sustainability assessments
Established in 1999, the Sustainable Design Scorecard (SDS) is intended to assess and quantify the environmental performance of non-residential developments in Victoria. SDS Version 7 is an improvement on earlier versions of the scorecard, it has updated the tool's capacity to allow for a greater number of options to achieve the targets in each environmental category. This version of the Scorecard supersedes all previous electronic and paper-based variations.
